Drive-Thru Cheeseburger a shameful (or shameless) review

Depending on how you look at it, this review may be just another burger review, or…my blog may be hitting an all-time low! Either way, it’s safe to say this blog is living up to its title –"no food snobbery".

But I digress. This burger is nowhere near an Epic-Crap-Fail as are some on the pages of this blog, so here is my (shameless) review:
I stumbled upon these burgers while grabbing a half gallon of ice cream at my local A&P and I think you'll be surprised to learn this "burger" was not awful. It actually tasted like a flame-broiled burger, more so than most Burger King burgers. I'm sure the flavor comes from a variety of smoke flavorings and/or other assorted chemicals, but hey, I'm writing about taste, not nutrition. This is a classic mystery meat, vending machine heat lamp sandwich, and I do believe they have their place in the world.
Pierre only provides the burger and bun so if you prefer any toppings, you’re on your own. I used the only toppings I had in the fridge at 2 a.m.; raw onion, a few tomato slices, and a little Hellman's.
This “thing” really did surprise the hell out of me, especially in a world where we eat foods like frozen pepperoni egg rolls, Hot Pockets, frozen burritos and the like. Some will consider this a real burger, some won't, and the food snobs will call it crap – either way, I'm just sayin' it's worth a try. And when you get the midnight munchies, instead of spending $20 on fast food burgers that have been sitting in a warmer and look nothing like their glamour photos, if you stock up you could get all of the drive-thru burgers you want from your freezer at about $1.50 each – who's the fool?
You be the judge, they’re your taste buds.



Now before I go any further, if you have any problem considering this a burger, fine, but at least think of it as some type of meat sandwich because it's worth stocking your freezer with one for those midnight cravings (better yet, stock at least two – excellent munchie food). The texture of the burger was very much like that of a Checkers burger – not as firm as I'd like, but as I said the flame-broiled flavor was there. The "hearth-baked" bun was also surprisingly good, in fact, it tasted as if it were never frozen. The half slice of cheese was not enough, but considering the fact that I was betting on taking one bite of this burger and spitting it out, I let the small portion of cheese slide.
