Argentatus Herring Gull in Febuary

A 2nd Calender bird showing the underparts in very good light today, a classic individual.

Another 2nd Calender bird here at rest. Note the dark eye, mostly dark bill just begining to fade at the base, dark primaries with no obvious fringes, dark centred and notched tertials and broadly marked greater covert's...

Another 2nd Calender, note the worn tertials on this bird...

A 3rd Calender bird. Note the whiter head, pale iris- The upperparts contain more grey and advanced plumage, note that the tertial pattern is totally different to 2nd calender birds above. Rather pink legs on this bird...

A second third calender bird. Note the tertial pattern again. Also the patterned mantle and scapulars, where moult is now apparent...

A bird in at least its 4th Calender year. Note the bill pattern and yellow colour, lemon iris, white head and underparts as well as largelt grey upperparts. Note the retained tertails and covert's and the pattern of the primaries...

An adult bird with light markings on the head. Many are clean headed by now...

Some shots of Argentatus Herring Gull from Skeppsbron today...
