Relationships are turning out to be more and more fragile these days. Are we not tolerant anymore or are we becoming too sensitive? Everything seems to be going on well in a relationship initially and then as the relationship ages there are cracks which develop in them. Why is it so? What could be the reason behind this phase shift? The breakup in a relationship can turn the whole world upside down and trigger up all sorts of agonizing feelings. The people in relationship are same, then how could the things go wrong? If one observes the events we can decide the exact reason that could be pin pointed in the case of a relationship failure.
There are two phase of emotions that we experience in a relationship. The first and foremost is the Permanent State of Mind (Sthayi Bhava) which is a permanent state of mind which is like the character of a person. The other is the Momentary State of Mind (Sanchari Bhava) which is momentary or passing sentiments which are sporadic in nature. If a person is generally a jovial and cheerful person then it is his permanent state of mind. That person can get agitated at times and display anger or frustration which is his momentary state, this does not reside in him but they are temporary dwellers.
Amazingly this permanent state of mind which is the natural state was the reason for a relationship to sprout unless it was not infatuation. It is due to this prominent character does a relationship take shape. If the natural mannerism of a person is arrogance and narcissism, I do believe that many will agree that no one would like have a relationship with such a person. Sporadic display of momentary state of the person during the initial stages of the relationship is neglected as it is considered negligible before the permanent trait.
At those initial stages of the relationship the acceptance of the prominent nature has so much value that the periodic display of transient sentiment is let gone. If this attitude continues the relationship will blossom but unfortunately if the transient sentiment is given unnecessary importance and the permanent trait is ignored there are sure cracks to develop in the relationship.
Earlier about a decade or two ago people would consider that transient sentiment as a bad dream and valve the worth of the permanent trait in a person and hence families would stay together. But unfortunately now it is not so, the unwanted hype over that transient sentiment devastates the relationship beyond repair devouring the family. If the person who is in relationship understands to admire the natural trait always then there is no place for even the trivial sentiments to show up……. Am I right?????
